Early Restoration of Driving Licence

If you have been disqualified from driving you can, in certain circumstances, make an application to the District Court to have your licence ‘restored’ without the necessity of completing the full period of your disqualification.

Fixed Price

Callan & Co. Solicitors offer a fixed price of €600 plus VAT for making an application for the early restoration of your driving licence in Counties Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Dublin. In addition to our fees, the Court Service Stamp Duty fee of €55.00 will be payable.

When can I apply

You can make an application to Court once half of the term of your disqualification has been served. If your application to the court is successful, the court will reduce your disqualification period to two thirds of the original disqualification period or 2 years, whichever is greater.
For example, if Patrick has been disqualified for 3 years, he can apply for the restoration of his licence after 18 months. If his application is successful, the court will order that his licence is restored once two thirds of his disqualification period has been served. Therefore, he cannot drive straight after his application has been granted. He must wait until two thirds of his disqualification has expired, i.e. 2 years from the date of commencement of the disqualification period.
Please note that you cannot apply for the early restoration of your driving licence if the disqualification is for 2 years or less or the disqualification is not your first disqualification order within the previous 10 years.
